Bonobos brings Shopify to its website and 48 Guideshops

Bonobos connects fit profiles, store checkout and seven-day sales attribution as Shopify POS rolls out across its US Guideshops.

Bonobos announced its redesigned Shopify website on 14 October, connecting online shopping with service in its 48 US Guideshops. The menswear retailer is rolling out Shopify POS and new customer service tools across the stores, following the website launch.

The Bonobos announcement describes a proprietary My Fit profile that shares sizing preferences across its website and selling systems. Store guides can also build an outfit online and move it into the store checkout without recreating the basket.

Giving stores credit for later online purchases

A check-in system attributes purchases within seven days of a visit to the original Guideshop and guide, whether the customer buys online or in person. Automated messages after fitting room visits and Shop Pay are also part of the new experience.

For retailers with showrooms, that attribution choice is worth examining. A fitting consultation can contribute to a sale completed at home. Measuring only the final checkout channel can miss that work. The practical question is how to recognise a store’s contribution consistently, including when a customer returns an item or visits more than one location.

My Fit is Bonobos’ proprietary tool. The announcement does not establish that its sizing profiles or seven-day attribution rule are default Shopify features.

A migration with work still to do

In Women in Retail’s account of Ellen Pope’s Total Retail Tech interview, Bonobos’ senior director of ecommerce describes replacing a longstanding custom platform. The change gives merchandising and creative teams more control over fit explanations and tests. The website went live first; POS and clienteling tools are still rolling out.

Shopify president Harley Finkelstein welcomed Bonobos on 14 October. His announcement offers a short introduction; the interview below provides more operational context.

What another merchant can take from it

Start with the handoffs customers actually experience: can staff find saved sizing preferences, carry a basket into checkout and follow up after a consultation? Test those steps before adding more features. Bonobos’ setup is a case study, not a ready-made configuration that every Shopify store automatically receives.
