Prime Big Deal Days is 6–7 October: a preparation checklist for Shopify merchants

Amazon’s October sales event is approaching. Check your offer, stock, delivery promises and measurement before deciding how your Shopify store should respond.

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days runs on 6–7 October 2026. For Shopify merchants, that is a useful date to plan around—even if you are not running an Amazon promotion. Decide which products, customers and delivery promises deserve attention before committing to a competing offer.

Amazon’s announcement puts the US start at 12:01 a.m. PDT on 6 October, with 48 hours of Prime-member deals. Amazon says dates can vary by country, so check your target market before scheduling campaigns. The checklist below is our editorial recommendation for an independent store, not an Amazon or Shopify requirement.

October sales calendar — updated 2 October 2026: Target has also confirmed Target Circle Deal Days for 6–7 October, with select early offers for paid Circle 360 members starting 5 October. The main event is for members of its free Target Circle programme. If your customers compare your products with Target as well as Amazon, check your campaign timing and competing offers from 5 October; matching either retailer’s discounts is optional.

Choose a reason to buy from your store

Start with the customer’s reason for choosing you. A useful bundle, a product configuration unavailable elsewhere, a clear delivery promise or helpful product advice may be a stronger proposition than a blanket discount. Pick an offer you can explain in one sentence.

Then work through the order economics: product cost, discount, fulfilment, shipping subsidy and expected returns. An offer that increases revenue but leaves too little to cover those costs is not a useful win. Keep the calculation specific to your products; the research does not establish a universal discount or advertising budget that will work for Shopify stores during this event.

Check stock across channels before sending

If you sell on Amazon as well as Shopify, review how stock is allocated and synchronised before promoting the same items on both channels. Confirm which quantities are actually available for each offer and who will handle an oversell or a delayed shipment.

For your own storefront, test the advertised basket on mobile. Check the discount, shipping charge, delivery message and any free-shipping threshold. If you are also changing your shipping configuration, use our market-driven shipping readiness checklist before the promotion begins.

Give existing customers a focused message

A short campaign to a relevant, opted-in audience is a sensible place to start. Match the message to the products they care about, state the offer’s terms clearly and send them to the right collection or product page. Make the message understandable without requiring readers to know Amazon’s event calendar.

Prepare customer-service answers alongside the creative: when the offer ends, whether discounts combine, what is in stock and when an order can realistically arrive. Avoid urgency claims that your inventory or offer rules cannot support.

Set the review criteria now

Before launch, record what would make the campaign worthwhile: contribution after promotional costs, orders from the intended audience and a fulfilment workload the team can handle. Review those outcomes after the event rather than judging the campaign only by a spike in visits or gross sales.

Shopify merchants also need care when comparing traffic across September’s measurement change. Our guide to the sessions update explains why an apparent conversion-rate movement may need a new baseline.

You do not have to launch a sale because Amazon does. Use the remaining days to choose deliberately: run a targeted offer, lead with a product story, or keep stock and margin intact for your next planned campaign.
