Meta’s on-device conversions: check eligibility first

Meta’s customer-device conversion measurement has login, Pixel and regional limits. Check eligibility before treating more reported purchases as more sales.

Meta’s customer-device conversion measurement gives Shopify advertisers a reason to review their reporting before Black Friday. The setting is enabled by default for eligible pixels, but Meta’s published requirements mean merchants should not assume every store or shopper qualifies.

We checked both Meta help pages on 29 October. The overview says matching can happen on the customer’s device using information already shared with the business and temporary device information. Meta says it receives confirmation of a purchase and the campaign to credit, rather than identifying customer information from that match.

Check eligibility before expecting a lift

Meta’s setup instructions list three important limits: the feature is not active for people in the EU or UK; the Pixel must be directly on the page, rather than in an iframe or implemented only as an image; and the website must require an account login using an email address or mobile number.

For a store that allows guest checkout, that last requirement deserves particular attention. Do not assume a toggle in Events Manager proves your checkout meets the documented conditions, or add a login barrier solely to obtain a measurement feature.

Check the actual Pixel implementation and account requirements. A Shopify store connection alone does not establish eligibility for customer-device measurement.

A reporting change is not proof of extra sales

Meta says the feature works alongside the Pixel and Conversions API, with attribution windows and models unchanged. That makes measurement coverage the immediate distinction: a purchase already made may become attributable in the ad report.

Before changing a campaign budget, compare reported purchases with paid orders and revenue in Shopify across comparable periods. Record promotions, refunds and market mix alongside any setting change. A larger attributed total can be useful information, but by itself it does not demonstrate that advertising caused additional purchases.

Teams with EU, UK and other customers should also avoid treating a store-wide average as evidence that every market changed in the same way.

Where to review the setting

In Events Manager, open Data sources, select the relevant Pixel, then Settings. Under Meta Pixel settings, look for “Measure conversions on customer devices”. Meta says eligible pixels have it on by default and that it can be turned off.

PPC Land reports a 12 November 2026 start date from advertiser notices. The two public help pages we checked do not state that date, so verify the notice in your own account rather than treating it as a universal activation deadline.

The help pages do not fully explain purchase-value handling or the detailed use of recovered events in bidding. Keep those questions separate from the confirmed eligibility rules. For a reporting discrepancy, investigate the implementation and order records before deciding whether to disable the setting.
