Shopify Autopilot expands: check budgets and approvals
Shopify expands Autopilot access and channels. Check plan eligibility, separate ad billing, approval permissions and why a monthly budget is not a hard cap.
Shopify announced a wider Campaign Autopilot rollout on 28 October 2026, alongside more channels and SEO recommendations. Merchants can manage the service from Growth → Autopilot, using store, product and customer information to propose marketing activity.
This is an expansion of an existing product. Microsoft Advertising, for example, joined in August. Shopify’s latest announcement still describes X Ads as coming soon, so do not plan an active X campaign around the announcement artwork.
Check the detailed eligibility rules
The announcement’s broad rollout language comes with documented requirements: all subscription plans except Agentic are eligible, subject to store and account conditions. You need at least one product, shipping configured, a store outside private mode, good account standing and the Marketing staff permission.
Autopilot itself has no fee, but approved marketing activity still costs money. Meta, Microsoft and Snapchat bill their advertising spend directly. Messaging and Shop Campaigns retain their own charging arrangements. Budget for the underlying channels, not just the Shopify subscription.

Review how campaigns are controlled
Shopify’s Microsoft Advertising guide describes Performance Max campaigns managed separately from your other Microsoft campaigns. Editing an Autopilot campaign directly in Microsoft may be overwritten at the next update. Review detailed impressions, clicks, conversions and spend in Microsoft’s reporting.
For Snapchat, Autopilot creates Dynamic Collection Ads using selected catalogue products. A live ad account, funding source, business address and completed Public Profile are required. The ad account and store currencies must match; supported currencies are AUD, CAD, DKK, EUR, GBP, NOK, SEK and USD.
Approval behaviour deserves an explicit check. Snapchat’s instructions say campaigns can launch immediately when the configured permissions do not require approval. If your team needs a person to review each proposal, set that rule before connecting the channel.
Treat SEO suggestions as editorial changes
Autopilot can also recommend page-title and product-description changes for review with Sidekick. Check product facts, brand language and search intent before approval. A generated recommendation should not silently change a material specification or customer promise.
Our recommendation is to start with one clearly scoped campaign and a named owner. Record which system controls it, review billing in the ad platform, and compare performance with paid Shopify orders across comparable periods. Keep promotions and other channel changes in that review: a reported return is not, by itself, proof of additional sales caused by automation.
